Study with us
The group focuses on the engagement of undergraduate and postgraduate students, in collaborative research. It also:
- Provides a supportive and interactive atmosphere, which stimulates students to develop their own research skills
- Promotes research techniques and procedures which are quickly shared, and critical thinking skills that are developed through ongoing peer-evaluation of experiments and results
- Normally supervises about 15 postgraduate students
Available student projects in broad areas
- Application of omics (eg metabolomics, proteomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics, genomics) to shellfish and fish health and nutrition
- Microbial assessments in shellfish aquaculture (pathogen infections and mechanisms)
- Histological assessment of health, stress and nutrition in shellfish
- Application of molecular and biochemical techniques in shellfish and fish aquaculture.
- Feed formulation and delivery techniques in aquaculture
- Probiotics and gut microbiome studies
- Bioactives from aquaculture products and their application
